Boys and Girls Clubs of Central Arkansas believe every child has the potential to BE GREAT. In support of this strong conviction, Clubs strive to build caring, responsible citizens. The Boys and Girls Club family, a community of staff, volunteers, parents, youth and supporters - work together to create a positive place, full of hope and opportunity, for every child.

One such example is Wesley Clark. Wesley grew up in Little Rock, Arkansas in the 1950s. Then, as now, it was easy to get into trouble if you didn't have the right place to go. So he went to the Boys and Girls Club. While there, Wes found two mentors who would have a profound impact on his life. One was the Club Director. The other was the swim coach. They had completely different styles, but were equally effective motivating kids. Wes met the challenges both men set.

Later, Wes attended West Point, graduating first in his class. He earned a Rhodes scholarship and an Oxford degree. In the Army, he rose to four star general and NATO Supreme Allied Commander in Europe. He still attributes much of his success to life lessons learned at the Club.
